DJ Buck’s Multimedia Showcase

Welcome to my multimedia page. Here, you'll find quick access to most of my various multimedia projects. Unfortunately I can't list all of my projects here as some of them were contracted out. But this is as close to comprehensive as I can get for the moment. Think of it as a fancy linktree for my work.

Whistling Nose

The cool ass logo for Whistling NoseThis is my current (and probably favorite) project. Whistling Nose was born from the desire to create something rooted in the old world wide web that could also be a creative hub. Over at whistling nose, I've created several quick browser games, some music, a few retro video game videos, and more fun stuff that I think is worth checking out. You can also find my MSPaint art showcase there. All of it was created by a human without using AI tools. Head on over, check out some of the pages, and revisit often.

The Nostalgia Ward

Nostalgia Ward Logo circa 2017Nostalgia Ward is a YouTube channel that focuses on a few things: musical experiments, retro art, old video games, vintage ads, and human created content. You'll find all of that and more over on the Nostalgia Ward YouTube channel. It originally began as an attempt to make a podcast / video game thing back in around 2016 or so. Then I just started posting music there. Eventually, I deleted all of the videos and started the channel backup from scratch. I'm doing this mostly for fun and to act as a platform for some of my more esoteric or experimental work, along with some archived items that I feel should be shared with the world.

Music by Asthmatic Whales

my trusty acousic guitar during COVIDMany, many years ago, I came up with an idea called the Foundation for the Protection of Asthmatic Whales. It seemed like a really funny thing at the time. Over the years, I tried to develop it but it never really worked out. I just couldn't seem to develop it into an idea that really hit my comedic standards (as low as they are). But, I did come up with a fun album art idea. And since I had a bunch of songs kicking around for the better part of two decades, I figured why not start releasing them under the name Asthmatic Whales. So, I've started a Bandcamp page for the one-man band That will start seeing some updates frequently. We're going to Todd Rundgren this and release some fun music. Stay tuned!

Tedium Podcast

DOS Tedium logo

It's 2025 and, despite a few false starts over the past few years, Tedium is getting a podcast. We've been cooking this thing so long, I'm surprised it's not done already. But trust us; it'll be worth the wait. Keep watching this spot for more updates as they become available. The Tedium podcast will focus on 10-12 of the most interesting and unique issues of the newsletter, with links to the specific stories, of course. It will (hopefully) be available on most podcast platfroms and most likely YouTube.

Read All My Work

I made Weird Al on a Wheaties box in 2016. Cool, huh?If you enjoyed my portfolio and just want to check out everything I've ever written, here's a convenient linked list of my various author pages. Obviously, ghostwritten stuff and YouTube scripts aren't listed here.

Woo-hoo! Full author pages!

For the completists out there, here are links to my complete author pages, excluding any work that was killed or not published. This also doesn't include any of the articles, pages, or press releases I worked on while at an agency. It also doesn't include any of my Weird History scripts. Here's the list, if your inclined to peruse it:

  1. Tedium: the Dull Side of the Internet (starts in 2017 and goes through 2025)
  2. EN World
  3. Nerdvana Media
  4. How To Geek
  5. Ranker
  6. Vice
  7. SyFy Wire
  8. The Nintendo Times (archived on Wayback Machine)

The Writing Graveyard

a cartoon graveyardAll ideas die. Everything has an expiration date. And sometimes, a piece of writing or creative work never even had a chance. Welcome to my writing graveyard. Now that you’ve read the actual portfolio, here’s a chance to look at some of my work that was killed before its time. I've had a few pieces over the years that were either killed or disappeared entirely. Here they are, presented for posterity, but only available upon request. And only if I feel like digging them up.

Gex 64 Review - Sigh. Another video game review. This time, it was supposed to be for a book. IYKYK. The experience with the editor was not great and the game sucked. I'll leave it at that.

Today I Found Out Eve Online - I'm not sure what happened here, but I wrote a 2000-word piece about how people used Eve Online to embezzle real-world money. I don't know if it was published and disappeared, or if it was just killed. The dude from TIFO just sort of ghosted me, which was a shame because they published an article about WD-40 that used my Tedium piece as a reference.

Songs in the Key of Trek - an abandoned piece originally commissioned for Star Trek Official, it was eventually rewritten and published on Tedium, but the original included a few more songs and had a very different format.

Fear of 5G: Suggestions for Helping Someone Concerned about the Health Effects of 5G - an article about what it says in the title, originally commissioned by Screen Rant, of all places. It never saw the light of day because it didn't"fit their style." It feels like nothing really does.

Dinosaur Supply Chain - This was a commissioned short story in an absurdist vein. It’s a story about dinosaurs who work in supply chain logistics at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. I thought it might make a fun 90s style sitcom. And I did write a theme song for it, so there's that.

That's it for now, but check back often for more updates and multimedia!
